I am addicted to Social Networking. Are you too?

Does the picture above look funny to you? Do you think it isn't possible? Well I guess it is!!

Social Networking once was a pastime for students and young adults, but today it has become a cross-generational phenomenon. It has become an International sensation for every walk of life.

Its good that this Sites helps you be in touch with your far friends but like everything else it has its disadvantage too. What matters is, are you using it in balance with your real life?? Aren't you getting too addicted to the virtual world??

What inspired us to write this article is the article published in the Digit magazine of this month [i.e. October 2010]. If you happen to read the magazine, open the first page of it and you'll see the editor speak about the Social Networking Site. He quotes that people have started sharing and tweeting those information which were supposed to be kept secret.

However we aren't in a mood to ask you to stop Social Networking but keep in mind the time you are giving to it. Talking about some of the disadvantages:

1. Killing Time
Productivity takes the biggest hit when Social Networking usage slips from a moderate pastime to a daily addiction. It is entirely too easy to loose large quantities of time while catching up with friends, playing with Facebook apps, or taking frivolous quizzes. We are sure, you may have come across situations when it distracted you in more important aspects of your life.
"If you think YOU have a problem, check out the average teen girl. She posts hundreds of pictures of herself. She makes & shares dozens of goofy videos. She has creepin’ down to an art. More disturbingly, she posts incessantly how much she loves her friends. (And OMG! They love her right back!) All that time you wasted is flushed down the toilet."

2. Communicating Online
There's no question that Social Networking Sites helps people stay in touch. This is especially useful for those who live far apart, and is a convenience for those who are too busy to get together in person as much as they would like. However, online communication too often takes the place of real-life interactions. Sometime people even forget to get outside and enjoy your real, non-virtual, life. I wouldn't mind to give you the example of me and my colleague who are in that condition.

3. Staying Connected
Earlier days, you may not have known what your friends and family members were doing every moment of the day. That was a good thing. While it's nice to stay in touch, people can become tethered to internet. They update their status and tweet throughout the day and check in on their internet friends just as often.
"It can also lead to second-guessing your own decisions and instincts. If you have to pause to run options past your Facebook friends before making a decision, you need to step away from Facebook."

4. Reconnecting with Old Friends
Facebook lets you reconnect with old friends or coworkers that you haven't talked to in years or even decades. But should you? School and family reunions have always been popular ways to check in with people you knew at various stages of your life. Is it necessary, or even healthy, to make everyone you've ever known a part of your daily life?
"Reconnecting with some old friends may lead to healthy new friendships that are based on who you both have become since you last met. Yet someone you knew when you were 15 may no longer share any of the same interests now that you are both 37."

5. Watch what you say
Imagine you go for a first job interview and all your FB status has been surfaced in front of them. Every single thing you post or text, with little effort, can be retrieved and shared with the world. It happens all the time so...watch what you say.

Read the news below:

This is a very sad story. A South Korean couple have been arrested for starving their baby to death. The couple allegedly neglected their three-month-old daughter, who was born premature.

We again would like to focus on the point that we are not against the use of Social Networking Sites..... While they have their own good points, dont be addicted to it!!
