Feb 2011: We were returning to our home, to our peaceful state Sikkim after 6 long months. Thoughts of steaming Momo and Gyathuk[thukpa] was making us smile. All the way we had talked about doing this and that, eating this and that at home. Just so much eager to reach home we were downcouting the hours and even minutes. And then, finally someone said 'NJP ai pugyo hoina?' Yes! we were there at NJP Station. Delighted, we carried our bags and left the train.
There was a terror of Strike in us and we were advised by our parents to directly catch a auto ricksaw to SNT Bus Stop to avoid any problems on the way to Sikkim. We did so.... But whats this?? There was a huge crowd of people and some sort of discussion going on at SNT Bus Stop and the gate was locked. Amazed and afraid, we kept our bags on the ground just to get scolded by the shopkeeper aunt, 'Bhai haru saman hatauta!! yahan narakha!!'
uffff.... We heaped our bags to one side. After an hour long discussion on some topic we couldn't understand, the gate was opened and 3 buses left for Sikkim. Each bus that left the Station was increasing the fear in us, the fear to be left behind.
Meanwhile a ricksaw driver came to us and said, 'Sikkim janey ho bhai haru?' We nodded!
'Gari herdiu? tara bhara alik mahango cha hai!!'
'Kati cha?' '500 Rupee.....' 'k?????? 500?????'
'ho! tesai bhandaicha....'
We looked at each other and I couldn't control my smile. 'Hos hola hou bhaiya..... SNT bus mai janu parcha....'
After some time we took 4 tickets to Jorethang. I thanked Sikkim Government before thanking God for providing the SNT Bus Services during the strike. This has been very much helpful for the people of Sikkim during the strikes.
I got inside the bus and was so happy to see all the Sikkimese faces in the bus. 'Wow...' I said to myself, smiling and friendly faces everywhere. Cool and calm.... And I couldnt help myself comparing the bus with the one where I studied, hustling and bustling, push and pull. Today, I felt as if I was in heaven.
All I was thinking on my way back home was to post this small experience of mine in this site and I thanked god hundred times that I was born in Sikkim, I am so much proud to be a Sikkimese.

One of the reason of living is learning & experiencing new things so that we can make ourself strong enough to confront all kind of circumstances; tough & toughest. We must take all these sad experiences as a part of learning. This is really disheartening that our students coming back home to spend a little bit of precious time with their loved ones has to face these kind of problems on way back home only because of this shitty strike. Anyways all is well at the end & lets hope this strike will get over soon.
