22-Melli Dara Paiyong Gram Panchayat Unit organized an interaction session with the students of livelihood school of Melli Dara which specializes in seed germination technology. Mr. Madhav Shrama, RDA welcomed the students and told the students that the purpose of the interaction session was to make the Gram Panchayat acquainted with the problems they are facing.The President of the Gram Panchayat Mr. Ganesh K. Rai formally welcomed the students on behalf of the Gram Panchayat. Appreciating the initiatives of the present government under the dynamic leadership of Dr. Pawan Chamling, he urged the students to make the best use of the training and discussed at length regarding the importance of the course being taught and how important it is to increase the chance of self-employability in future. He told the students that main reason for unemployment is lack of employability and lack of skill and encouraged the students to take up agriculture i.e. farming as profession which is the most respectable job in the world today. He cited numerous encouraging examples pertaining to how farming can also result in high living standard.
The students also interacted openly and brought to the notice of the Gram Panchayat the following problems they are facing –
1. Water Problem – Lack of sufficient water for irrigation purpose
2. Lack of Land – The students have to do practical on a small piece of land which is causing inconvenience for full-fledged practical session
3. Lack of Laboratory – Laboratory has not been set up yet because of which is causing inconvenience in carrying out practical classes
4. Books not made available – Even after two months, books have not been given to the students
5. Tools – Tools necessary for practical session have not been made available
The President assured the students to take this matter to the concerned authority for quick redressal. He also assured accommodation to those students who need the same.
